Is there an income requirement?
We often learn that our rescues were dumped by families who lost a job, could not afford to fly the pet to their home country, and could not find anyone willing to re-home the pet in the UAE, where The National reported over 100,000 street cats in one city alone.
If you are an expat, adopting in the UAE brings much greater responsibilities than adopting in your home country:
—It is expensive to fly a pet to most countries.
—The outdoors is more dangerous for pet cats in UAE cities than in other countries.
You must certify that you can afford the cat’s future medical expenses and flight costs back to your home country.
Please research pet flight and quarantine costs before adopting. It can cost AED 5,000 to 15,000.
